Ping Privacy Policy

Ping is built for privacy. We use advanced security and end-to-end encryption to provide secure messaging and internet calling to users around the world (“Services”). Your messages and calls are always encrypted — only you and the intended recipients can access them. No one else, including Ping, can read or listen to them.

Information You Provide

Account Information

When you create a Ping account, you register with your phone number. We use your phone number to provide core services to you and to help others connect with you on Ping. You may optionally add a profile name and profile picture — this information is also end-to-end encrypted.

Messages & Calls

Ping cannot access the content of your messages or calls. Your communication is fully encrypted from end to end. If a recipient is temporarily offline, encrypted messages are securely stored on our servers until they can be delivered. Your message history is never stored by Ping — it lives only on your own device(s).

Video Meetings & Screen Sharing

Ping Chat may provide video meeting and screen sharing features as part of the Services. The end-to-end encryption described above applies to Ping Chat private messaging and calls. It does not apply to video meetings or in-meeting screen sharing. In this version of the application, video meetings and screen sharing are not end-to-end encrypted. These features operate through real-time transmission infrastructure.Ping Chat does not store, record, or retain any video meeting content or shared screen content. Audio, video, and shared screen data are transmitted only for the duration of the active session and are not saved on Ping Chat servers. Please note that other participants may independently record, capture screenshots, or otherwise retain meeting content using their own devices or system tools. Ping Chat does not control or assume responsibility for such actions. To provide video meetings and screen sharing, the application may request access to the camera, microphone, and screen capture permissions. You may grant or deny these permissions through your device settings, and you may stop screen sharing at any time.

Technical Data

To operate the service, Ping temporarily stores limited technical data such as authentication tokens, encryption keys, and push notification tokens. This data is randomly generated and strictly limited to what's needed for secure message delivery and call functionality.

Contacts

You can choose to allow Ping to identify which of your phone contacts are also Ping users. This is done in a privacy-preserving way: your contact numbers are hashed (converted into non-readable code) before being sent to our servers for matching.

Customer Support

If you reach out to Ping Support, any information you provide will be used only to investigate your issue and follow up with you. We don't use this data for any other purpose.

Managing Your Information

You can manage your account and personal data at any time through the Ping app settings. This includes updating your profile or enabling additional privacy features like the Registration Lock PIN.

Information We May Share

Third-Party Services

We partner with third-party providers to help deliver parts of our service — for example, sending a verification code when you register. These providers are contractually required to handle your data securely and in accordance with their own privacy policies. If you use third-party services (like YouTube, Spotify, Giphy, etc.) within Ping, your use of those services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.

When We May Disclose Information

Ping may disclose certain limited data only when required by law or when strictly necessary to:

Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or to improve clarity. If we make changes, we'll update the “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of Ping confirms your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
